Escape Road is more than just a run of the mill racing game. It has elements of a fighting game that include strategy, reflexes, and real-life skills. Here is my review on the mechanics of the game.
Gameplay Mechanics: What makes Escape Road unique is that it doesn’t follow the norm which makes the game highly unpredictable. This sets it apart from classic racers. Players are required to navigate tracks with obstacles, tornadoes, and even EMP blasts. The controls are highly responsive. However, precision is required in order to master the drifting. The veterans will appreciate the skill ceiling while the newcomers might find it challenging.
Visuals and Sound: The barrage of explosions is complemented by the cartoonish art style, and this ensures clarity amid the chaos. Each vehicle has its own animations, and the upbeat soundtrack does encourage energy but after playing the game for long hours, the mute button might be your best friend.
Community and Monetization: You will be paired with similar ranked players which make the ranking system ruthless yet fair. Even though the microtransactions are not pay to win, they are certainly on the lower end of spectrum. If you wish to enjoy the game, the $10 battle pass does become a necessity.
Verdict: At it’s core, Escape Road is an enjoyable game that tries to adapt into a different genre. Though it has flaws, the fun doesn’t diminish making an entertaining experience overall. 8/10.
